Here we are now in the quiet half lit days inbetween, a time to take stock and think about the year gone by, before another one swoops in to take its place. I hope all of you had a cosy and happy Christmas time, and are looking forward to welcoming the New Year.
I could never have guessed when I set ‘Leaf City Press’ up back in February that I would finish the year having sold out of lots of prints, be brimming with ideas for the next ones and have secured a ‘proper’ studio in town. The studio is the thing for me at the moment, no matter that the most ‘arty’ thing I have done in there so far is to wrap presents, it’s mine and it’s amazing, and I can’t wait for it to get it up and running.
So far, Leaf City Press has been wonderful. It’s been stressful at times, and I’ve made mistakes along the way, but I have learnt so much and feel so full of enthusiasm that I am very happy to seeing this project start to flower -tentatively at first, and now getting stronger.
I have a big project in mind for 2013, I’ll tell you more about it soon, and it’s going to keep me very busy. Well, really there are two biggies, one related to a series of new prints I’d like to make and one workshop and teaching related – so look out if you are Sheffield based as there are some treats coming up.
First, I am off to Finland for a holiday. Sam and I are going to Helsinki for some snow, reindeer meat and moomin adventure. If any Fins are reading this and have some tips for us then please drop me a line.
Wishing you a peaceful and happy New Year. I’ll be back in 2013 with some pics of Helsinki (hopefully) knee deep in snow.
